History of English Language

ENGL 3200


An introductory survey of the history of the English
language, from pre-Anglo-Saxon times, through Old, Middle,
and early Modern English, and into English as a contemporary
global language. Attention to historical changes in sound,
structure, syntax, and social contexts.
Pre-Requisites:
ENGL 1102 with a minimum US grade of C
AndENGL 2111 with a minimum US grade of C
OrENGL 2112 with a minimum US grade of C
OrENGL 2121 with a minimum US grade of C
OrENGL 2122 with a minimum US grade of C
OrENGL 2131 with a minimum US grade of C
OrENGL 2132 with a minimum US grade of C
